The LET award aims to promote tech entrepreneurship in the Netherlands. It was presented during the BOLD event, in May 2023, attended by numerous founders, CEOs, and other industry leaders from companies like Booking.com, Adyen, TomTom and Mollie.
“To be even nominated for the ‘Leading Entrepreneur in Tech, from Techleap.nl is a real honor, but to win it is just incredible,” said Matt Welle, CEO of Mews. “Mews is a scale-up with the Dutch market at the heart of it’s global operations, and I’m delighted to be recognized, if not a little humbled. Building a business like Mews, I hope, inspires many entrepreneurs to take the step to creating something new and innovative that will make a positive impact.”
Matt is steering Mews’ fast-scaling business that saw headcount grow 55%, revenue growth of 116% and a Series C investment of $185 million in 2022. Mews’ Hospitality Cloud is used by over 3,500 hotels, in 80 different countries across the globe and supported by over 750+ employees.
“Now more than ever, scale-ups are proving they're not only economically successful but also create immense added value in the societal sphere with smart solutions to major challenges. Matt symbolizes the strong promise of tech entrepreneurship in the Netherlands with his innovative vision, commitment to ecosystem growth and the ability to inspire others,” says Corinne Vigreux, co-founder of TomTom. Along with Valentijn Bras and Job van der Voort (winner of the LOEY Award in 2022), she formed the jury for the LET Award 2023.
“This award is a testament to our collective efforts as a team and serves as a reminder that the best is yet to come. We’ll continue to make waves in the hospitality industry and create more remarkable travel experiences,” concludes Matt. “I also want to recognize the importance of fostering a thriving startup community. Together, we can create an environment that nurtures innovation, promotes collaboration, and propels us towards greater success.”
