[Dallas, 5 November 2026] – DarkLight Collection, a new luxury glamping brand offering private glass pyramid suites under some of America’s darkest skies, has chosen Mews as the operating system for its first four properties, before welcoming a single guest.

By building its technology stack at the same time as its properties, DarkLight Collection is creating one automated foundation for reservations, revenue, operations and the guest journey from day one, without having to retrofit disconnected systems onto an already-running business.

DarkLight Collection is developing its first two destinations near Bryce Canyon, Utah, and Glacier National Park, Montana, two certified dark sky locations chosen because the night sky is central to the guest experience rather than simply a backdrop. Each private pyramid suite is designed to maximize interior space while framing expansive views of the night sky under Bortle 2 and 3 skies, ideal for stargazing and astrophotography. Two further properties, in Montana and California, are already secured, with plans to grow the brand to around ten locations over the next few years, largely across the western United States.

Rather than assembling separate systems after opening, DarkLight Collection evaluated every major hospitality platform while still building the brand and selected Mews as the single operating system for the hospitality side of the business. Mews brings property management, revenue management, housekeeping and the guest portal together in one place, reducing the need for the team to manage multiple systems. Mews’ open API also allows DarkLight Collection to connect the technology it built into the properties, including Salto smart locks, in-room lighting and projection. As a result, a guest’s reservation can carry through into the physical arrival experience, including a personalized welcome triggered when the guest opens the door to their pyramid.

Onboarding began in October, ahead of a 10 November launch when DarkLight Collection opens bookings for its 2027 grand opening. Deploying the operating system before opening is intentional: the brand can build, test and standardize its workflows before the first guest arrives, while creating a repeatable operating model for future properties. McMurtry said the system has been straightforward to pick up even before onboarding formally starts.

“We analyzed every major system on the market, and Mews stood out because it runs the whole business, not just reservations. We get property management, revenue, housekeeping, and the guest portal in one place, and because everything sits on an open API, we can connect our own technology, from smart locks to in-room lighting, directly into it. The moment a guest opens the door, the experience is already personalized to them,” said Derek McMurtry, Founder of DarkLight Collection.

“This is exactly the kind of operator we built Mews for: someone starting four properties at once who wants everything running on one core system instead of patching five vendors together. DarkLight Collection is using our open API to extend that core into the physical experience they designed themselves, and we’re glad that ambition sits on a foundation that can scale with them toward ten locations and beyond,” said Mike Coscetta, President of Mews
