The acquisition from global travel platform trivago provides Base7booking customers with a specialist cloud-based property management provider and heralds an exciting new era of innovation for all Base7booking properties.

We’re delighted to extend a very warm welcome to all Base7booking customers – we’re so pleased that you're joining the ever-growing Mews family.

This year has certainly been a challenging time for hospitality, but we have our eyes firmly focused on the future. Now more than ever we need to use technology to streamline hotel operations, innovate services and enhance experiences – for hoteliers and guests alike.

We truly believe that this acquisition will provide significant opportunities for all Base7booking customers. We look forward to getting to know you over the coming weeks, and we hope you’ll discover our deep customer commitment and passion for product innovation.

Why Base7booking?

Of all the property management systems out there, why did we choose Base7booking? From early on, our M&A team realized that the business was an ideal candidate for an acquisition, in large part because of our shared culture and values. Just like Mews, Base7booking was founded by former hoteliers who believed that hospitality technology should be better than the traditional systems everyone was resigned to using, and so they built their own flexible property system.

In short, we all believe in a better way to work, and we believe in the power of transformational technology. Add to the mix a passion for meaningful relationships with hoteliers and memorable experiences for guests and you have a winning combination. Matt Welle, CEO of Mews, says:

“Adding Base7booking to the Mews portfolio is a win-win for everyone. We share a strong European presence, 100% cloud-based software, and a complete focus on serving the needs of hoteliers and their guests. At the same time, we’re investing millions of Euros every year in R&D and product innovation. We strongly believe that our market focus and product roadmap will provide significant benefits for all Base7booking customers.”

Mews is acquiring Base7booking from their owners, trivago, a global hospitality search platform. Trivago’s CEO, Axel Hefer, says:

"The leadership team and I decided earlier this year to streamline our product portfolio. We’re excited to have found an agreement with a market leader in property management systems. We’re very confident that Mews will be an excellent technology partner for the Base7booking customers and team.”

Base7booking is the second acquisition for Mews, following the successful integration of the Belgian-headquartered, Planet Winner PMS

An exciting future ahead

Mews already had a strong presence across Europe and the DACH regions, but the addition of the Base7booking properties accelerates our growth in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

As Richard Valtr, Founder of Mews, says:

“While our industry has been heavily affected by the pandemic, we have our eyes set on the recovery which is expected to begin in the first half of 2021. Now is the moment for the thousand-strong customers from Base7booking to join Mews so they can take full advantage of our technology and expertise in hotel automation.”
