System coordinating rooms, apartments and event spaces

A family-run hotel in a former Berlin courthouse and prison has grown with Mews from day one, with one guest profile and a system landscape built step by step.

Overview

Wilmina Hotel Berlin sits in Charlottenburg, in a listed former courthouse and women's prison restored by the architects who now run it. Its 44 rooms and suites look onto hidden courtyards and green gardens. Guests can stay in the hotel or in the apartments, with the same standard of hospitality.

As a Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) member, Wilmina belongs to a community of independent hotels with a strong identity of their own. "That fits who we are: a family-run house in an extraordinary place," says the team. Being part of SLH is "a commitment to hospitality that feels individual rather than standardized." Wilmina has been on Mews since day one.

The Challenge

Wilmina never had a "before Mews". The question was how to keep the technology in the background as the hotel grew.

Hospitality here is meant to feel personal rather than uniform, and any system risks flattening that. As Wilmina became a stronger brand with more market presence, it needed more tools, and each one had to fit the pace of the house and never come between the team and the guest.

The Solution

Mews is Wilmina's first point of reference. All reservations for the hotel rooms and the apartments run through it, and the team keeps centralized guest profiles there. The hotel uses Mews much like a CRM: whoever a guest speaks to, the team has the same picture.

Mews also handles room allocation and the allocation of the event spaces, and everything connects back to the same guest profile, so nothing lives in separate silos.

As the hotel grew, the team added tools to its system landscape step by step, always in line with what the hotel needed at the time. The team values the large number of integrations most, and Mews has stayed the stable core that everything else connects to.

"Mews is always our first point of reference. It gives us a clean, consistent structure for guest data, so whoever a guest speaks to, the team has the same picture."

The Results

Wilmina's room performance grew year on year, alongside its work with Mews:

  • RevPAR up 7%, reaching €176
  • ADR up 3%, reaching €224, with higher occupancy accounting for the rest of the RevPAR growth
  • Every team member sees the same picture of a guest, whether they stay in a hotel room or an apartment
  • Rooms, apartments and event spaces are coordinated in one system, with nothing in separate silos
  • Less time on admin and more attention for the guest.

Integration Spotlight

Mews Marketplace: What Wilmina values most about Mews is the large number of integrations. As the hotel grew, the team added tools step by step, and Mews has stayed the stable core that everything else connects to. Mews Marketplace offers 1,000+ integrations with no connection fees, plus an open API, so a hotel can add a tool when it needs one without changing its core.

SynXis: Wilmina's channel manager and booking engine connect to Mews through the Marketplace, keeping availability and reservations in sync between the two.

Why Mews?

SLH hotels stand for hospitality with a personal touch, so their technology should never be the star. Mews stays in the background, keeps every guest's details in one place and connects to the tools a hotel adds as it grows. Mews is a preferred technology partner of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
