Dear Mews community,

We would like to comment on COVID-19 (the Coronavirus), which has tragically turned into a global pandemic.

In the past month, our lives have profoundly changed. The health of our communities is now the highest priority, and everything else is a distant second, including our freedom of movement. The travel ban and widespread shutdowns in the hotel industry is unprecedented at this scale and it may not be until a vaccine is released that we see a return to normality.

Given this new reality, we’ve taken several actions to ensure that the Mews community is well prepared to weather this storm, and emerge on the other side stronger than ever. Some of these steps include:

  • Maintaining 24/7 online customer support
  • Expanding online account management in all languages
  • Streamlining our core customer operations teams
  • Launching a COVID-19 webinar series with expert speakers

Our highest priority right now is to serve our customers because as we all know, our technology powers a large part of your business operations. If you need any support, day or night, please send a message to support@mews.com.

We have created a webpage where you can keep track of all of the Coronavirus hotel data and updates from Mews, including what we're doing to help hoteliers, and what hoteliers can do to help those in need.

Finally, we would like to announce a brand new initiative called Hotels for Helpers. This program has been designed for any hotel who wants to provide discounted rooms for healthcare workers who are on the frontlines of this crisis. The program started in the Netherlands and within one week, more than 100 hotels signed up. Given the strong demand from hotels and guests alike, we’re helping to roll this out in multiple regions. Please contact the Hotels for Helpers team on their website, if you’d like to learn more.

Despite all that’s happened in the past few weeks, we’re still very optimistic about the future. We can see people booking trips because the second they can travel, they will. Everyone is determined to get out of their homes to enjoy some well-earned holidays. This pandemic hasn’t been easy for anyone, far from it, but we believe this experience will make us stronger, as individuals and as a community.

Take care and stay safe.
