Serviced apartments, which may also be referred to as aparthotels or extended stay hotels, are furnished apartments that can be rented on a nightly basis or for longer periods. They generally include a kitchen or kitchenette, a living space, a sleeping area, a full bathroom, and may include housekeeping and laundry machines.

Serviced apartments are commonly used by people traveling for business or by tourists looking for more of a complete environment than a standard hotel room and bathroom. Extended stays are growing in popularity with digital nomads and people looking for a community feel when they’re away from home.

What unique features does a serviced apartment need in a PMS?

A PMS is used to manage the operations of a serviced apartment property. Given that guests often book a longer length of stay than in a traditional hotel, the PMS used by extended stay hotels should make it just as easy for a guest to book for a few months as for a few nights, and the management of the longer stays should be simple as well.
